beth 🙁 i appreciate the front desk lady for softening, giving her the choice here and explaining what would happen. unfortunately….. getting social services involved could lead to even worse outcome for beth. she could incur her mothers wrath in an even bigger way, gladys may retaliate for embarrassing her by making it a ‘public scene’. kind of an awful reality and one im too familiar with; knowing social services and the legal system won’t see her mom’s actions as abuse, and because the agreement the aunt and mom have is spoken, theres no legal way for her aunt to help her. and maybe worst case would be beth going into state custody, because it would be a complete stripping of her agency the same as going with gladys is. rather the devil you know, and all that.
