I mean yes, she can call the cops on you for breaking into her house?

If things actually went to a custody court dispute, a judge might rule in favor of the family member who’s actually been taking care of Beth, as opposed to the parents who kicked her out in the first place… Maybe… strong “maybe”.

Possibly, but there’s a pretty big income gap here and custody disputes often go to whoever has the most money. Also, Beth’s dad is a lawyer, and while he’s not going to represent himself (“a person who represents themself has a fool for a client” is a common saying among lawyers), he probably could call in a favor and get cheaper representation.

Yeah, those are good points. Plus from what I understand, biological mothers are strongly favored in disputes, even moreso back in the 90s/00s… So probably just wishful thinking on my part.

UNLESS this all is what leads to Gladys choosing to forfeit custody like she did in Cheap Thrills. Maybe.

I wish we readers had confirmation of whether Gladys has already, or will soon, chosen to sign over parental rights/custody of Beth to Alice.

?? I thought Beth’s dad was a real estate agent?
