It’s been a long time since I read the beginning of the comic so it escapes my memory – do we know what led to Beth not living at home initially? Because the delivery on this strikes me as very ominous.

She was generally acting out at school. Back in the first chapter, Gladys makes reference to an incident where Beth was caught selling her ADHD medication to other children.

The way he says “if anyone had gone along with her bullshit” and the “We all. Know. Better.” makes it sound like maybe she’d accused someone (him?) of something and everyone was terrified of what that might do to them so they sent her away, using her other misbehavior as an excuse.

Or at least that he played a part in what happened.

It’s sad that Beth’s mother wanting to do the right thing by her would probably end up making her more miserable than being able to stay with her friends and get away from her family in Rigsby.

This is exactly the vibe I was getting.

Oooh I don’t think Beth should go home. Very ominous aura about “if anyone went along with her bullshit”. I think I agree with iforgot and Senri.
And we all know why Shane doesn’t want her working with him.

She needs to stay with her aunt in Rigsby.
