I suppose it’s a small town, but they seriously should have something to fit her – she’s not even that big! I’d go for dark blue or green for a redhead rather than pink, of course.
This is based a little bit on my own experience – I remember going to the MoA in high school to look for a prom dress about a week before prom and not being able to find anything that fit – not even long at the actual design of the dress, just looking at the size, trying to find something, anything that would fit – and I was about the same size as Beth. I feel like plus size formal wear options were still pretty abysmal in the early 2000s, especially if you waited until the last minute.
I’ve felt like that myself as a guy (thankfully only once). I’m both short in a weird way and round, so pretty much nothing fits me entirely. We went to a fancy clothing store and they measured me out for clothing that actually managed to fit me and I nearly had an emotional breakdown in the story from how much they had to do. :/
