To be honest, as much as this sucks for Jeordie, Bryan’s kinda right in the second panel. It’s definitely kinda scummy to be sneaking around with your best friend’s ex (especially when they *just* broke up). Like I get why they’re “sneaking around” but Jeordie being Jenna’s ex definitely puts Bryan in a tight spot regardless. And we know it’s not just that, but it definitely adds to Bryan’s reluctance. Of course, I definitely get why Jeordie’s reacting like this too with how Bryan’s been giving him such mixed signals and it definitely hurts to feel rejected like this (especially when it’s not even really something you did but something the other person is working through).
TL;DR: This is such a sucky situation in so many ways and it hurts to see them not work out for such external reasons
There is also an internal reason why they did not work it out: they are young which means they are still figuring out how anything in life works including themselves. Not something to blame them for as making mistakes is a natural thing and handling well your emotions is a skill not everyone learns regardless of age. And being able to understand the emotions and thoughts of others? That’s also hard and requires time to learn.
I just wanted to say that I appreciate the addition of the sound of the gearshift being put into park. It’s the little details that make comics like this feel more real.
