My kids will never know how lucky they are to be spared the Forced Church Attendance and the Pointless Clothing Shaming that graced(!) my youth.
And that’s exactly the point.
I guess this is his stepmother? Bryan looks like his father, the little ones like the new partner… Hmmm…
I hope this isn’t a weird dynamic I often read on Reddit, when the new step parent doesn’t like his / her partners child and are nit picking every little thing.
Back on /comic236/ Bryan mentions his mom “was” a tribe member, but his dad never bothered to take him to anything on there, and with this context, I… see why he might say something like that.
I appreciate the little details in the backgrounds: Bunny ears on the TV. Computer in the living room it seems, probably The Family Computer over which everyone competes for time using, as well as competing the dial-up against whomever is using the phone. A cross on the wall (and willing to bet a Bible on the shelf there). Photos of the half?step?-siblings, but no photos of Bryan himself visible here. Might be just out out-of-panel, but whether the omission is diegetic or not, it says something about the family dynamic.
So THIS is Bryan’s family. Huh. HUH.

I didn’t notice that the nose on Bryan and the dad is the same. For a minute I thought it was one of those heinous Evangelical adoption things
same but I agree I think it is supposed to be his dad

oh man the early 2000s texting is bringing me back
I certainly am not feeling nostalgic for the beige pc’s and the beige CRT monitors.
Guessing Bryan’s not WET 4 THE LORD
