GOd this hurts. B/c you can understand it from both sides. Jeordie already wanted physical affection (cuddles, positive quality time, etc) in his previous relationship so of course, he’s looking for it here where it seems completely possible but ultimately Bryan is rightfully worried about being seen, especially since he doesn’t have the support system Jeordie does. His family’s violently homophobic and Jenna probably wouldn’t take this well either atp (ik most ppl would be pretty mad if their best friend started seeing their ex not even a week after the breakup). It’s just such a messy “right people, wrong time” situation where they could theoretically be happy together but you just know it won’t last b/c of the circumstances.
Ahhhhh Bryan ;_; you do such an amazing job of capturing the guilt and unease he’s feeling. It’s a wonderfully frustrating experience: I want the best for him, but his conflict serves the story beautifully and naturally. I hope somewhere in your unpublished world building he’s out and happy in the future!
