Being inebriated does break down some social barriers for people, and I would think these kids are hiding a lot about themselves seeing as they come from a small, rural area especially in the early 00’s.

Jeordi’s relationship with Jenna has become more and more toxic and corrosive, and it’s evidently worn down his self-esteem. This is likely the first time he’s realised the extent of how utterly miserable he is with her. There’s no real intimacy between them. Compare that to what he experiences here with Bryan. Even though Jenna is his best friend, he rebukes her bullshit, tells Jeordi that she’s wrong, affirms his intrinsic worth as a person, and holds onto him tenderly. Throughout the comic, when has Jeordi shared this tactile tenderness with Jenna? Of COURSE he kisses Bryan. He’s like a man dying of thirst in the desert who’s just found a pure mountain spring.
