She doesn’t know this guy, but if he’s someone her Mom picked up at the bar, based on the misogyny alone it’s probable he wouldn’t be opposed to smacking a teenager for talking back. And even if if he isn’t, it’s not like Anna knows one way or another how he’d react.
He’s already helping himself to their food without asking. It really doesn’t look likely that he would respect any sort of show of authority from Anna.
