i’d just really like to say thank you for posting a page today. you’d be well within your rights to not want to, but having something else to focus on, even for a bit, is sincerely appreciated. story-wise, the complexity and realism with which you write interpersonal relationships + conflict here is also amazing as always! beth’s relationship with her mother is so well written and grounded. the little glimpses we get of gladys as someone who /can/ be nurturing and kind really make my heart ache… that and the deeply tragic aspects of her life and character that’ve been hinted at in this chapter. so good!!! all of your characters feel so rich and well fleshed out. beth’s expressions here are also /so/ good. they’re so familiar… especially the subtle brow furrow in panel 3. it almost makes me feel like i’m the one having cramps ‘:[
Panel 5 Bethany just casually wearing the face I’ve had on all day…..
I like the subtle clash of the pea green against Beth’s dull pink bedclothes, especially in previous context of the unfortunate pink dress Gladys put her in. These two women aren’t on totally separate pages in the universe, maybe, and there is at least some capacity for caring here…but their spirits have next to nothing in common.
Is that a subtle upside-down cross I see on Gladys’s back?

thank you for this comic.
your characters feel so real. really excellent storytelling
I like how both of them made more or less the same face in reaction to this on back-to-back pages.
