Can’t you see that this is the way the narrative is meant to go? Jeordie and Beth are a couple in Cheap Thrills, and they’re a couple in SE Case’s future projections. They’re meant to be together.
Admittedly I feel like it’s happening too fast at the speed of light in this one, but teenagers are stupid and move fast, too, so it doesn’t bother me. I don’t know if you’ve read Cheap Thrills, but these are are a couple in Cheap Thrills, and I think the author means for them to be together at some point. That, or she’s teasing us and they’re going to realize “this isn’t about love”. Excited to see, either way! The drama in this is just, MWAH, chef’s kiss. I like my heart being ripped out and stomped on. ;-;
i wouldnt say this is happening too fast, at least not on beths end. she first developed a crush on him at homecoming. that event took place 2 years ago and was published back in 2019
The beautiful thing about Rigsby is that we partially know how the story is supposed to go, from Cheap Thrills – we know Beth and Jeordie are going to eventually end up together, because they’re perfect for each other. So with pages like this there’s this almost supernatural sense of fate, because YES!! They’re finally getting it! They’re soulmates!
I haven’t read the other comics so this all seems fresh to me – I have never read anything that evoked such a strong sense of feeling everything I ever felt in high school. It’s kind of amazing how many memories it’s brought back and how real these people feel. <3 <3 <3
Brings back memories. Not from highschool (was decidedly too shy at the time), but I remember those amazing moments where the tension was so thick you could slice the air. And that distinct feeling when you let go of the brakes.
I liked them better as cute & cozy friends, honestly….
