You could write a 2000-word essay on the nuances of this one page alone. For example: why does the teacher only threaten Jeordie with the school cop, when the other kid was clearly just as culpable?
In this case, I think yelling at both of them to break it up would be appropriate. It was obviously a verbal antagonism that escalated, not an attack by Jeordie out of the blue. Also there wasn’t any need to bring the school cop into it
For the record, I am NOT sticking up for Bruce, but he’s all bark. His big, stupid mouth is not grounds for getting physical, which DOES justify involving the school cop. I said the same a few chapters earlier in Jeordie’s defense when Bethany hit him for confiding in her that he cheated on Jenna. Is it terrible that he said such an awful thing? YES. Does he deserve to have someone put their hands on him for what he said? NO.
Sorry to reply to a comment 2 years late, but considering the comic heavily features racial differences and the nuances of it all through Jeordie’s side of the story, it can pretty easily be assumed it’s because Jeordie is Black and Bruce is not.

I honestly think it’s simply because Jeordie pushed first.

Nah, Bruce absolutely deserves to swallow his teeth.

man jeordie just cannot escape casual and active racism
And look at Bruce in the middle panel, pretending that he’s being threatened when a moment ago he was ready to throw down.
