Aw, it’s nice these kids have their heads on their shoulders and they’re looking out for their friends. And this is a good lesson: When you get a bad feeling about a party, usually the safest thing you can do is bounce.
Erik is sober and Pam is mature for her age, clearly. Thank heck for both of them. I hope as awkward as it is they get Brian out of there with a ride too, I feel like his reputation as possibly gay/bi makes this situation with the .22 rifle really bad. Please think of him, Jeordie. Although…if they do give him a ride too I can see him having…WORDS with Jenna. Eek.
Honestly, I really appreciate Pam here. Previous chapters have made it seem like she doesn’t really care about Erik or his particular friend group (which is fair, you don’t have to be friends with EVERYONE). But it’s clear that she’s not the kind of person to just leave people out in the cold either.
Oh, I’ve always loved Pam dearly. She seems like a voice of reason here. In the early 2000’s I was always so transfixed by girls who dressed like her (bleached hair, heavy tans, dressed in Abercrombie and smelling like Princess by Vera Wang). A lot of media portrays these types as vapid; I like seeing Pam here have a clear understanding of what’s up.
“He’s been following your girlfriend around” is a pretty delicate phrasing.
Is this the longest dialogue Pam’s gotten so far? It feels like she’s been talked about for most of the comic so far rather than getting to speak for herself, so it’s a nice effect to suddenly hear her voice (and find out it’s such a reasonable one).
